Alien Skin is probably best known for their Lightroom and Photoshop film simulation plugins. Then I came across Alien Skin’s Exposure X3.

Although to be fair, Skylum has plans to include DAM in a “soon to be released” upgrade to their software. And, I have looked into Skylum’s Luminar, but without DAM (Digital Asset Management) it is a no go. I have a copy of On1 Photo Raw 2017 but rarely use it. I have looked at Capture One, but feel overwhelmed by its cost and learning curve. I feel like Adobe has me between a rock and a hard place.

So although my frustration with Adobe is mounting, I feel too tired (read, can’t teach an old dog new tricks) to invest massive amounts of time learning entirely new software.

I work quickly with keyboard shortcuts and know exactly how to move through my edits quickly and efficiently, at least from a workflow point-of-view. I have used Lightroom since 2008, back when Lightroom 2 was introduced. Moreover, I am not exactly enamoured by the fact that Adobe has adopted a subscription-based platform. Like many of you, I have become frustrated with the speed of Adobe’s Lightroom.

And since Spencer’s article, an update to the software was released, so I’ll fill you in on those details too. Here I will dive a little bit deeper into the user experience I have had with the program while using it exclusively for the last four weeks. I’m following his article up with a more detailed take on Exposure X3. In his article, he compared Lightroom to Alien Skin’s Exposure X3. A couple of weeks ago, Spencer wrote the first article of our “Lightroom Classic vs. I saw a lot of threats regarding the news of Adobe. This is an in-depth review of the Alien Skin Exposure X3 software for culling, managing and post-processing images. I think this is a good time for me to ask a few questions regarding LR alternatives. Lightroom Classic does support plugins of all kinds. I am using LR (not anymore), Affinity Photo (instead of PS), DXO (got a free version and it is the first RAW Converter software I use in my workflow for lens correction and profile then export DNG), proud owner of PhotoMechanic (no one can beat this software for culling). Plugin makers almost always include Lighroom Classic and Photoshop in their installers, giving you access to plugins like the Nik Collection, Alien Skin Exposure X3, Macphun (Skylum) Luminar, ON1 Photo RAW, and more. #Alien skin exposure 7 vs on1 presets skin At the moment, Lightroom CC does not have any plugin support.

Don't have to be perfect here but just need its good enough to put thing here and there.Ģ. Lots of available Preset/filter/film simulator ( like LR have VSCO and many many Preset that can be purchased or free download) -> extremely important.ģ. A Decent brush that can remove skin's defect or small objects in the images without destroying the images or make that spot look too fake -> importance. I tried On1 2017 before when it is just released and get a refund. Lagging and quite slow at that time for me. Exposure is a powerful and intuitive image editor with an extensive range of tools to suit every standard of photographer from beginners through to professionals. Like it's color grading tools, 1 of the best in the market so far. The affordable one-time pricing is hugely attractive, and a range of one-click presets make editing an enjoyable and rewarding experience. Never heard of AlienSkin Exposure 3 until today But lack of presets (or too expensive) and the software itself is way too expensive (I can still try to bite a bullet but it only comes when I run out of choice). Heard about ACDSee long time ago since I was a child but never actually use one. Luminar: no Win version yet and I can't wait.Īnd of course raw photo processor, non-destructive editor FOR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER. I need speed, less lagging and just simple to use. I have other software and workflow for fine art, boudoir and fashion but it is very slow workflow and different software compare to wedding. #Alien skin exposure 7 vs on1 presets pro.#Alien skin exposure 7 vs on1 presets skin.
